Description
The Assistant Director of Athletics Communications will report to the sports information director to help orchestrate the strategic and day-to-day operations of the athletic sports information office.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Partner with the SID in creating and implementing a strategic communications plan utilizing the latest sports marketing techniques, emerging technologies, social media, video and digital marketing tools to build brand recognition, drive traffic to digital platforms and enhance recruitment and retention.
- Partner with the SID in executing digital media and content strategy for 28 varsity teams for athletics social media & visual media. This includes in-person coverage of athletics games, events, scores, awards, news, etc., and requires nights and weekends. Produces video content for the website and other content (graphics, links, etc.) for social media. Including track and report key website and social media metrics.
- Partner with the SID on game responsibilities to include; statistical reporting, post game interview, highlight video and game photos for each home contest. In-person coverage for 10 standing sports (see below) and results coverage for 18 additional sports - assignments to be determined annually by SID.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in sports information or related field preferred.
- Experience with NCAA statistical game software & reporting, social media platforms, and digital media.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with department’s computer software.
- Attention to detail, well-organized, can work under pressure.
