Description
Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications to fill the role of Assistant Director of Sports Medicine/Head Football Athletic Trainer. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Department of Sports Medicine in practice and game coverage, assisting in the daily operations of the athletic training room, and providing multifaceted healthcare for the Football sports program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide healthcare services for the Football sports program, including but not limited to injury prevention and evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation, practice/event coverage, physician referral, medical appointments, and assistance with referrals to counseling for student-athletes.
- Maintain communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
- Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport-specific conditioning programs and methods.
- Assist in selecting and fitting protective equipment, including special taping, pads, or braces.
- Assist with the maintenance of athletic training equipment and monitoring Inventory.
- Assist with the maintenance and organization of the student-athlete's medical files.
- Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
- Remain current with all national and state certifications and licensure and follow the NATA code of ethics, including annual CEU opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in athletic training, exercise science, or closely related field.
- 4 years of post-baccalaureate athletic training experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- NATAB0C Athletic Trainer certification, eligible for Alabama state licensure.
- Current First Aid and CPR/AE0 certifications, knowledge of NCAA and SWAC rules and regulations.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License with an insurable driving record, and be able to travel and work nights, weekends, and holidays are required.
