Description
The Assistant Coach will instruct groups or individual players in the fundamentals of a specific sport. They will help each participating student-athlete achieve a higher level of skills, an appreciation for the values of discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship and an increased level of self esteem while following the Mission, Vision, Philosophy, and Core Values of the Department and School District.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach in all matters pertaining to the Head Coach's areas of responsibility.
- Cooperate with other coaches to provide programs and schedules that are in the best interest of the student-athletes and the Department.
- Assist Head Coaches in supervision of programs.
- Educates individuals, groups, or teams on the rules, strategies, and techniques for the sport.
- Helps the Head Coach plan, organize, and lead practice sessions.
- Trains, encourages, and motivates student-athletes to prepare them for competitive events.
- Teaches safety rules and regulations and ensures they are enforced.
- Develops physical conditioning programs that equip athletes to meet their potential.
- Evaluates team members to determine fitness levels and potential; assigns positions or roles to athletes based on strengths and weaknesses.
- Ensures student-athletes are using equipment properly and safely.
