Description
The assistant football coach is responsible for assisting the head football coach in running an NCAA Division I (FCS) football program by recruiting academically qualified prospective student athletes, developing and implementing training sessions, practices and game plans, educating and coaching student-athletes, and supporting student-athletes in their personal, academic and athletic development at Merrimack College.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in running the offensive side of the program at the direction of the head football coach.
- Participate in the recruitment of high-quality student-athletes, including managing a recruiting area and involvement in on-campus visits.
- Participate in the development of student-athletes, personally, academically and athletically.
- Assist in coaching a position group; help plan and run training sessions and practices.
- Scout opposing teams and assist in the breakdown of video for teaching purposes and game planning.
- Attend coach and student-athlete meetings.
- Help monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.
- Represent the program with the highest level of professionalism, sportsmanship and integrity.
- Help foster and maintain a culture that demonstrates a commitment to NCAA rules compliance and institutional policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 1-2 years of previous playing and/or coaching experience.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours and a flexible schedule.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics.
- Demonstrated recruiting skills and knowledge.
- Knowledge of video editing and production.
