Description
The Assistant Football Coach is responsible for instructing/teaching and training student-athletes on the rules and fundamentals of their sport, while assisting the Head Coach with all phases of the operation of a NCAA Division FCS Football Program.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility is to instruct/teach and train student-athletes in their sport.
- Assist in the organization and administration of the football program.
- Recruit student-athletes within University, SoCon and NCAA guidelines.
- Assist with the evaluation of opponents.
- Assist with the evaluation of football players currently in the program at Samford University.
- Represent Samford University and its football program in all areas of public relations.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time by the head football coach.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Previous coaching and or playing at the collegiate, high school, or professional level preferred.
- Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA, Southern Conference, and institutional rules and regulations is required and a commitment to operate within those rules.
- Strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept.
- Ability to represent Samford University and the football program in a professional manner.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and select holidays as required, in addition to normal business hours.
