Description
Under the direction of the Head Football Coach, this position assumes the role as the Defensive Coordinator within the football program and all duties associated with that role.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- A minimum of three year’s demonstrated successful coaching and recruiting experience at the college or university level.
- Ability to organize and operate an effective football program while motivating and mentoring student-athletes. Includes (but not limited to) 3 years of collegiate football coaching experience, budget, team travel, inventory, equipment, uniforms, scheduling, fundraising, student-athlete academic progress, alumni relations, and rules compliance experience.
- Ability to stay abreast of current and developing trends (video, voice, data, and computing technologies).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties:
- Assist the Head Football Coach with the recruitment of perspective student-athletes; including the annual recruitment of at least 10 student-athletes who enroll and participate in the sport of football at the University.
- Year-long tracking of the academic success of the student-athletes associated with the defensive players. Including, but not limited to, grade and classroom monitoring for at-risk students, the utilization of TeamSync calendar program, communicate and inform the Head Coach of any discrepancies or challenges the students encounter.
- Effectively scout opponent offensive schemes through the use of HUDL video system to determine and successfully prepare a defensive game plan that prevents the opposing team from successful operation.
- Develop daily in-season practice plans for each individual position, including the preparation and creation of team functions in collaboration with the overall game plan. Must be in relation to the daily fundamental needs and specifically scouted game plans of the future opponent.
