Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in coaching and training the Northwestern football team; for developing and conducting all in-season and out-of-season sessions throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate.
- Help with the psychological preparation of team in both pre-game and post-game; and for developing motivational approach to practice and games.
- Work to develop comprehensive knowledge of football in decision-making, delegating authority and in setting and meeting objectives.
- Must be fully knowledgeable and adhere to all rules and regulations of the NCAA. Big Ten Conference (as applicable) and Northwestern University as amended from time to time.
- Work with appropriate Northwestern University Department of Athletics and Recreation (NUDAR) staff in preparing for all home football games.
- Cooperate with the Athletic Communications Department and the Marketing Department in publicizing and marketing Northwestern Football.
- Compile and maintain individual and team statistics for all games; provide statistics to Athletic Communications for their use.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience coaching or playing at the collegiate level or working in an athletic department setting
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact with diverse populations.
- Ability to establish engaging relationships within and across racialized and other marginalized communities
- Communicates effectively in one-to-one, in small groups and in public speaking contexts; writes precise, well-organized emails, letters and proposals while using appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
- Plans, organizes and schedules in an efficient, productive manner; anticipates contingencies and demonstrates flexibility. Excellent organizational skills and pays attention to detail.
- Knowledge of NCAA, Big Ten Conference, University and Department rules and guidelines preferred.
