Assistant Head Football Coach

Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport. This role would require planning with the Head Coach and the Athletic/Activities Director for competitive opportunities for the team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Serves as Head Coach when head coach is not available.
• Attends organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential students to participate in the sport.
• Assesses player’s skills and makes suggestions to head coach on assignments to team positions.
• Implements a regular practice schedule that provides practice time for both individual and team development.
• Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, safety, and character development needed to succeed.
• Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student.
• Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
• Models positive sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Attends staff /team development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
• Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education/Experience: A minimum of three years relevant coaching experience and Successful completion of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) activity-specific online rules review
• Certification: Valid Teaching Certificate, Four-Year College Degree, or serving as an approved Assistant Coach
• Language Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, and the general public.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
