Description
This position is responsible for providing assistance to the head coach in the area of coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they may achieve a higher level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow and maintain knowledge of District policies and procedures relevant to this position.
- Implement the head coach’s philosophy and program style.
- Set a positive example in behavior and sportsmanship for all athletes.
- Plan and set up activities, practices and games/meets as assigned by the head coach and/or Athletic Director.
- Develop appropriate training programs and practice schedules as assigned by the head coach.
- Travel and actively supervise stduent athletes on the team bus both to and from games.
- Responsible for all equipment assigned for that level and ensure team members return all equipment issued and inventory the equipment at the end of the season.
- Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age 21 years.
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Prefer at least six months related experience teaching appropriate skills and techniques for the sport involved. Prior successful experience working in a school setting or coaching student athletes strongly preferred.
- Background/Fingerprint and Criminal History Clearance.
- First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Certificates and testing as determined by the District. Ability to obtain Coaching Certification through the National Federation of High Schools and Oregon State Component Certification.
- Work well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; remaining open to others’ ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully coach, lead and/or motivate adolescent students.
