Description
The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting with the coaching of the team, practice planning, and assisting with maintaining a high-quality NAIA athletic program that supports student recruitment and enhances the educational experience and personal growth of the student-athletes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists the Head Coach in providing instruction to student-athletes regarding the specific skills needed to play the sport, to build and inspire great teamwork, and for their own character development.
- Assists in the planning, organizing and implementing of inter-collegiate games and practices.
- Assists the Head Coach in building a cohesive and competitive program.
- Assists in supervising and monitoring student-athletes’ academic performance.
- Abides by the rules and regulations of the league in which you will be competing.
- Understands and abides by universal standards of confidentiality and ethical decision-making.
- Responsible for assisting the Head Coach with recruiting of student athletes.
- Responsible for taking a leadership role in the athletic program.
- Assists the department with athletic issues as needed.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling of student employees in the basic operation of the laundry, including equipment operation, handling of contaminated goods, stain removal and goods distribution.
REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business, science or closely related field.
- Must have at least one (1) year of successful basketball coaching experience, preferably at the college/university level.
- Prior experience working in a college environment with interactions with faculty, staff, and students preferred.
- Must have organization, inventory and record-keeping skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours which may include early/late hours, occasional weekends, and the ability to travel.
- Must have a valid SC Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Must be qualified to operate, willing and able to safely drive a 12 or 15-passenger van which is consistent with the College’s insurance regulations.
- Must pass a background check.
