Description
The assistant coach will be responsible for supporting the head coach in managing all aspects of a competitive and successful NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field program with the primary responsibility being the planning and instruction of vertical and horizontal jumps. This position will also serve as the recruiting coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compliance with NCAA, SAC and Catawba College Policies and Regulations.
- The assistant coach must be efficient at individualized and team instruction with emphasis on teaching all skills and strategies associated with the sport.
- Recruiting quality student-athletes that are committed to the Catawba College mission within the allotted scholarship structure and limits.
- Commitment to and the management of program budget.
- Coordinate and maintain regular communication with Catawba athletics staff, including the Director of Athletics, Compliance, Sports Medicine, Media Relations, Video, Strength & Conditioning, and Facilities Operations.
- Provide academic support for all student-athletes.
- Assist the head coach with meet scheduling.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Successful collegiate coaching and track and field experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in vertical and horizontal jumps instruction and knowledge of the sport.
- Ability to recruit student-athletes that will be successful in the classroom and in their events.
- Ability to lead, mentor and motivate student-athletes.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to produce and assist in the management a competitive track and field program are important.
