Description
The Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in coaching highly competitive NJCAA men’s basketball program, recruiting student athletes, assisting in coordinating practices and activity travel, and promoting events and activities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluate talent throughout the year, and coordinate communication plan with prospects
- Reply to recruiting correspondence.
- Correspond with high school coaches in and out of state.
- Assist in coordinating and implementing prospect recruiting visits.
- Ability to recruit before and after holidays.
- Practice preparation and proving instruction and motivation during practice
- Administering individual and group workouts in pre and post season
- Assist with the development of strength and conditioning program for student athletes. Coordinate strength groups with players around academic schedules.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Knowledge of intercollegiate basketball programs.
- Strong communication skills and ability to persuade prospective athletes to attend WSCC.
- Up-to-date knowledge of NJCAA, TCCAA, and appropriate TN Board of Regents’ policies and procedures.
- Ability to travel for team practices, competition, and scouting in and out of state.
Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public.
