The University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. The Assistant Coach will perform the responsibilities directed by the head coach. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the coordination of the practices, individual training sessions, recruiting, and other duties as assigned.
This position requires a clean or acceptable driving record.
Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience as a player, and/or Coach/Teacher required.
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
Assist with the teaching of all offenses, defenses, fundamentals and techniques, game strategies, and knowledge of all aspects of the sport.
Assist with teaching team and individual compliance to training rules and operating policies which govern their intercollegiate sport program.
Assist with educating others and supporting the NCAA Division II Strategic Plan.
Assist the head coach with budgeting, requisitioning, accounting for and storing of all athletic equipment and supplies needed and used in the sport program.
Responsible for their own personal conduct according to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the University, NCAA and Conference regulations governing intercollegiate athletics, and department operating procedures established by the athletics administration.
Strict adherence to all medical decisions and placing the student-athlete’s health and welfare.
Actively recruit academically and athletically talented student-athletes in accordance with the philosophy of the University of Indianapolis and in strict adherence to University, NCAA and Conference regulations. Teach potential recruits the value of the UIndy experience.
Support and monitor the student-athlete’s academic responsibilities by providing guidance to university resources.
Possible oversite of study table when necessary and in support for the success of the student-athlete.
Recognize that the head coach is the assistant coach’s immediate supervisor in all matters pertaining to athletics.
