Description
Maryville University is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable individual to join our Athletics Department as an Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach. This position will involve supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of the men's lacrosse program, with a focus on player development, team strategy, and fostering a positive and competitive team environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist with the recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes to compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and be among the top programs within the conference.
- Assist with the administration of the men’s lacrosse program as determined by the head coach.
- Assist with adherence to the program’s operational and recruitment budget.
- Assist in designing and implementing effective training programs to enhance the individual skills and overall performance of student-athletes.
- Provide hands-on instruction and guidance during practices and games to improve players' technical abilities, lacrosse IQ, and overall game performance.
- Support the academic success of student-athletes by monitoring their progress, providing academic counseling, and promoting a healthy balance between academics and athletics.
Qualifications:
- Prior coaching experience in lacrosse at the high school, collegiate, or club level is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in lacrosse coaching techniques, player development, and game strategy.
- A strong understanding of the game of lacrosse, including rules, regulations, and tactical aspects.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach, coaching staff, and Athletics Department to achieve common goals.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Genuine interest in the academic and athletic development of student-athletes. Demonstrated commitment to building a positive and supportive team culture.
