Xavier Athletics Xavier Athletics will begin competition in softball beginning with the 2020-21 academic year and is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Softball Coach to meet the goals of guiding and leading an elite-level program with effective management; as well as to promote academic achievement and character of the student-athlete, fans, and within the University community. Xavier competes primarily in the NAIA’s Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.
Knowledge, Education, Experience, and Proficiencies:
A creative self-starter with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) with two years of related experience.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and video editing software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting the head coach with all responsibilities involving the softball program.
Evaluating and recruiting athletically and academically qualified student-athletes
Assist the head coach with monitoring academic progress and the retention of students
Assist the head coach with assuming responsibility for sportsmanship, conduct, and academic progress of all students and staff affiliated with the softball program.
Assist the head coach with planning practice sessions in accordance with regulations.
Assist head coach with managing fundraising and alumni relations.
Supervise graduate assistants and managers.
Manage equipment and uniform procurement and inventory.
Be able to coordinate and analyze game film/stats.
Assist in organizing softball camps.
Coordinate team travel.
