Description
The Assistant Softball Coach serves the Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation in the Division of Student Affairs. This position reports to the Head Softball Coach and supports the mission of the College in its focus on student development, outcomes and success. This is a ten (10) month position with benefits that includes morning, evening and weekend responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Head Coach in all aspects, as needed.
- Be a contributing and positive member of the Kenyon Athletic Department AND Student Affairs Division.
- Maintain the field for practice, and sometimes games.
- Represent Kenyon always in a positive and enthusiastic light.
- Teach the basic fundamentals of the game using a skill set that will compliment the head coach’s.
- Recruit academically and athletically strong applicants for admission in the selective, highly competitive application pool at Kenyon College utilizing ARMS software, including preparing promotional materials.
- Work in conjunction with athletic trainers to maintain student-athlete welfare.
- Stay up-to-date with sport and coaching best practices in order to provide opportunities for all involved in the program to become students of the game by sharing knowledge of the sport.
- Participate in the NCAC governance for softball at coaches meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Demonstrated experience instructing on the rules and fundamentals of the sport.
- Collegiate playing experience.
- CPR, First Aid and AED Certification is required (and can be completed after hire).
