Description
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach reports to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and will assist with the design, development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of strength and conditioning programs for five to seven intercollegiate programs at the NCAA Division II level.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Work with assigned teams to develop pre-season, in-season and off-season programs.
- Evaluate individual strengths and weaknesses of student-athletes and develop strategies to enhance performance.
- Design individualized work-out plans; implement testing programs; maintain appropriate records; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of program based on individual results and data collected.
- Assess and analyze dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of student-athletes in the context of athletic performance and health.
- Counsel student-athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training (match nutrition to training phases and goals), competition, recovery from exercise, weight management, hydration, travel, and supplementation.
- Counsel student-athletes on achieving and maintaining a level of body mass, body fat, and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and good performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Health, Nutrition, Exercise Science or related field with a background or education in dietetics.
- 1-3 years’ experience required.
- Experience with dietary & supplement evaluation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills (Microsoft Office) required.
- Must possess a current CPR certification at time of hire or must attain certification within one month of the date of hire.
- National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of NCAA DII rules and regulations.
- Ability to demonstrate and communicate proper spotting and lifting techniques.
