Description
High Point University is recruiting for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The Assistant Plans, implements and manages a program of on- and off-field athletic development to enhance the performance levels and well being of the University’s student athletes in 17 NCAA Division I sports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum two years’ experience in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level, preferably Division I.
- CSCS, SCCC or USAW Certification preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Designs and implements strength and conditioning programs, which include power, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition and conditioning for 17 varsity sports.
- Provides on-field instruction of Speed, Conditioning, Plyometric, Proprioception and sport- specific athletic enhancement; organizes all team and/or general sessions
- Ensures safe and correct execution of exercise techniques.
- Evaluates athletes and integrates speed development to the strength development program including, but not limited to, acceleration, change of direction, top-end speed, agility, plyometric development, flexibility, vertical jump training, and energy system conditioning.
- Monitors, documents and reports athletes’ progress, including strength, speed, power and explosion metrics, to all athletes and coaches.
- Collaborates with athletic training staff in development of rehab protocols for injured athletes as well as development of alternative training methods for injured/rehabilitating athletes.
- Maintains an open line of communication with the other members of the strength staff, sport coaches, and athletes.
- Meets with recruits as requested by sport coaches.
