Description
Southwestern University seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position will work directly with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and will oversee all aspect of the Strength and Conditioning program for the intercollegiate athletic program, and provide proper guidance and training techniques in support of university students.
Primary Duties:
- Collaborate with sport coaches to establish goals and plans for each team, ensuring safe participation of all students-athletes, as assigned by the Head Strength Coach.
- Assist the Head Strength Coach in developing systematic strength and conditioning programs for all student-athletes participating in the University’s intercollegiate athletic program to prepare them for the specific needs of their sport in order to safely compete at the highest possible level.
- Assist the Head Strength Coach with scheduling and overseeing the usage of the athletic weight room.
- Schedule and manage the Interns and Student Assistants assigned in the strength and conditioning area.
- Assist the Head Strength Coach in maintaining the strength and condition equipment and facility.
- Maintain University’s scheduling and programming software specific to Strength and Conditioning.
- Work directly with the Athletic Training Services to ensure safe return to play training for student-athletes.
- Participate on campus committees as requested.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Must hold a current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification.
- Possess current CPR/AED/ First Aid certification.
- Demonstrated competency of strength and conditioning principles and ability to assist in their application.
- Knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
