Description
Position is responsible for assisting the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in all aspects of the strength and conditioning/weight training program for the institution’s NCAA Division I (FBS) men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics teams other than football. Position will have general responsibilities for all sports, with primary responsibility in women’s basketball.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in health/exercise science, physiology, anatomy, kinesiology or related field required.
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated practical strength and conditioning experience in a broad-based intercollegiate athletics program required, preferably at the NCAA Division I level.
- Current CSCS and/or SCCC and CPR/First Aid certifications required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, athletic-trainers, coaches and academic staff regarding on-going issues.
- Ability to ascertain the difference between issues of student-athlete confidentiality and best interests of the student-athlete.
- Ability to respond appropriately and urgently in the case of injury or other health-related issues.
- Expertise and certification in current methods and strategies for intercollegiate strength and conditioning.
- Ability to teach/train/develop student-athletes to optimally perform the physical requirements necessary for success in competition.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all strength and conditioning functions for all student-athletes in assigned sports.
- Establish a philosophy and method of training that will maximize the athletic and competitive success of student-athletes.
- Demonstrate a wide variety of ability and knowledge in developing pre-season, in-season and off-season programs.
- Evaluate individual strengths and weaknesses of student-athletes and develop strategies to enhance performance.
- Design individualized work-out plans; implement testing programs; maintain appropriate records; monitor and determine effectiveness of programs.
- Establish and maintain productive channels of communication with head and assistant coaches.
