Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director and Head Swim Team Coach and in accordance with the YMCA philosophy, it is the function of the Assistant Swim Team Coach to assist in conducting quality practices which foster a positive swimming experience that will provide an educational experience, aid personal development, contribute to self discipline and provide an opportunity for all.
Previous coaching experience required.
Competitive swimming experience at the high school level or collegiate level required.
Highly motivated and willing and able to work independently as well as a part of a team.
Must possess and maintain current Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED certifications.
Must attend New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention and Blood borne Pathogens trainings within 30 days of hire.
Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification is desired.
Requires an understanding of and appreciation for the YMCA and its philosophies and mission.
Must possess excellent customer service skills and have the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally with staff, members and pool patrons of all ages.
Effective leadership skills, well defined technical skills, and training skills are required.
Knowledge of Rules that govern YMCA Competitive Sports, the YMCA of the USA Guidelines for Competitive Sports and the practices outlined in the Technical Assistance Paper for the YMCA Competitive Swimming Programs is required.
Knowledge of USA rules, regulations and guidelines is required.
