Description
Under the direct supervision of the Head Track & Cross Country Coach, this position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the University’s varsity track and cross country program. The Assistant Coach will primarily provide assistance in coaching instruction to Men’s and Women’s Cross Country athletes but will also have the opportunity to work with short and long sprint athletes. This position requires frequent interaction with the Head Coach, assistant Coaches and athletic trainers to help promote a successful and positive athletic experience for all track and cross-country student-athletes.
Essential Functions:

Responsible for enhancing the performance of approximately 50 student-athletes.

Assist in the physical development of student-athletes for all phases of season, pre- and post-season practice and competitions.

Assist with the implementation of the practice plans for Cross Country and Track athletes approved and/or established by the Head Coach.

Assists with regular testing to determine progress and making needed individual adjustments.

Coordinates with Athletic Training and Strength & Conditioning staff on all aspects of team strength and condition programs and injury recovery and prevention with assigned track & cross-country student-athletes.

Assists in the recruiting efforts designed to attract academically qualified and athletically gifted student-athletes to the men’s & women’s track programs.

Evaluates prospective student-athletes in-person and through reports from high school coaches on their athletic and academic performance.

Keeps all recruiting records in good order and provides regular reports to the Head Coach on the recruitment status of each prospective student-athlete.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.
-
1-3 years of relevant experience.
