Description
The Assistant Track and Field Coach will work closely with the Head Coach in organizing and leading practices, developing and implementing training plans, and supporting student-athletes in their development in various track and field events. The coach will help create a positive and competitive team environment and will be responsible for assisting in both the athletic and academic growth of athletes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of daily practice plans and training sessions.
- Work with student-athletes in specific track and field event groups (sprints, distance, jumps, throws, etc.).
- Help with event coaching, focusing on the individual needs of each athlete.
- Lead warm-ups, drills, and conditioning sessions.
- Foster a positive and supportive team culture.
- Help with meet preparation, including logistics, event management, and coaching during competitions.
- Provide feedback and evaluations to athletes to improve performance.
- Work closely with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to ensure the program's success and growth.
- Help monitor and track the progress and performance of athletes.
- Assist with the development of student-athletes’ academic and athletic goals.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience in track and field (preferred but not required).
- Background in specific events (sprints, distance, throws, jumps, etc.).
- A passion for developing athletes and promoting teamwork.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and encourage student-athletes.
- Must maintain certification with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
