Bishop Luers High School
Description
Position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the Track & Field: program at Bishop Luers High School. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students-athletes, and instructing student-athletes in strategies and techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assists the Head Track & Field Coach with instructing the players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Reports to Head Track & Field Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal.
- Organizes and directs individual and small group practices activities/exercises as directed by Head Coach.
- Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the Head Coach informed of the athletic performance of the athletes.
- Assists Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competitions.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Model sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards, players, officials, and spectators.
- Maintains the equipment room in an orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
- Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to athletes as directed by the Head Coach.
- Assist the Head Coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.

- Pass a background check and complete required IHSAA state courses.
- Assistant coaching position is a part-time position paid by a stipend. Stipend will vary based upon years of experience.
