Under the direct supervision of the Head Track & Cross Country Coach, this position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the University’s varsity track and cross country program. The Assistant Coach will primarily provide coaching instruction to track and cross country athletes. This position requires frequent interaction with the Head Coach and athletic trainers to help promote a successful and positive athletic experience for all track and cross- country student-athletes.
- Coordinates with Athletic Training and Strength & Conditioning staff on all aspects of team strength and condition programs and injury recovery and prevention with assigned track & cross-country student-athletes.
- Assists in the recruiting efforts designed to attract academically qualified and athletically gifted student-athletes to the men’s & women’s track programs. Evaluates prospective student-athletes in-person and through reports from high school coaches on their athletic and academic performance. Keeps all recruiting records in good order and provides regular reports to the Head Coach on the recruitment status of each prospective student-athlete. Reports any major concerns or attention for recruitment related issues to the Head Coach.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Approximately 1-2 years coaching experience as well as previous track or cross country running experience at the collegiate or professional level.
