Assistant Track & Field Coach

The Assistant Athletic Coach is to assist the Head Coach in all assigned and/or auxiliary duties in their respected sports program. This position is a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act. Assist the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. Assess player's skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the head Coach informed of the athletic performance of the students.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
• 2 years of experience and/or training in a higher education setting.
• Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Able to read and interpret documents, manuals, and instructions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, and diagram form.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Essential Functions:

• Seasonal work performed during the sports specific season.
• Coaching effectively in practice and competition, specifically the vertical jumps.
• Recruiting qualified student-athletes.
• Maintains office hours as assigned by Head Coach.
• Promoting an atmosphere of compliance and student-athlete academic performance.
• Attends and administers all practices, meetings, and athletic contests.
• Engaging the campus and local community by building relationships with constituent group members and by personal and team participation in community service activities.
• Select and maintain all equipment and gear.
• Attend all practices, meetings, and athletic contests.
