Description
The Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics will be responsible for the overall supervision and administration of the University's 12 NCAA Division II Varsity sport programs. The Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics will report directly to the President. The Department oversight includes assurance that all programs, coaches, staff, and student athletes are in compliance with the policies, rules and regulations of Regis University, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and the NCAA.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creates and implements the Intercollegiate Athletic Program's strategic plan.
- Develops and implements processes and policies to enhance department resources, responsible for enforcement of these processes and policies. This includes management and oversight of a $3.2M budget.
- Works with University Advancement, the Sports Information Director, and Marketing and Communications to promote the Intercollegiate Athletic Program.
- Collaborates with academic support services to support the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development of student athletes.
- Ensures compliance of all Athletic Department programs in accordance with the NCAA, RMAC, and University rules as well as Title IX.
- Serves as the liaison for or has oversight of the liaison for Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), the Dean of Students, the Provost, Director of Admissions, Director of Financial Aid, Assoc. V.P. for Physical Plant Operations and other key University administrators.
Qualifications:
- Five or more years of providing staff leadership experience meeting defined goals; ability to effectively motivate staff while maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards.
- Demonstrated experience in a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
- Demonstrated ability to work with university administrators, faculty, staff, and major donors.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Significant experience in strategic and financial planning including developing and implementing a business plan.
- Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Regis University.
