Description
The Assistant Volleyball Coach shall report to the Director of Athletics and Head Volleyball Coach. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- The assistant volleyball coach will be expected to assist in the recruitment of high character student-athletes that lead with character, follow with humility and compete with grit.
- The assistant volleyball will be expected to assist in the organization of team practices, weight training and conditioning plans that best prepare NMJC athletes for NJCAA level competitions.
- The assistant volleyball coach will be expected to assist in scheduling a fall, spring and pre-season season schedules as needed within the NJCAA by-laws and game limitations.
- The assistant volleyball coach will be expected to be knowledgeable in the areas of NJCAA by-laws, NJCAA Region 5 and Western Junior College Athletic Conference rules and guidelines and NIRA if applicable.
- The assistant volleyball coach is expected to assist in providing academic advice to student-athletes in a degree plan that fits the preparation and career path of each individual. This plan is directed to the ultimate goal of each student-athlete graduating from New Mexico Junior College with an AA, AS degree or certificate.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least one year of collegiate coaching experience is required.
- Previous experience in managing an athletic program is preferred.
- The successful candidate must have good public relations skills, excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-task situations and ability to work in a fast-paced operation on a daily basis.
