Description
The Assistant Volleyball Coach shall report to the Director of Athletics and Head Volleyball Coach. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- The assistant volleyball coach will be expected to assist in recruiting high-character student-athletes who lead with character, follow with humility, and compete with grit.
- The assistant volleyball coach will be expected to assist in organizing team practices, weight training, and conditioning plans that best prepare NMJC athletes for NJCAA-level competitions.
- The assistant volleyball coach will be expected to assist in scheduling fall, spring, and pre-season season schedules as needed within the NJCAA by-laws and game limitations.
- The assistant volleyball coach will be expected to be knowledgeable about NJCAA by-laws, NJCAA Region 5, Western Junior College Athletic Conference rules and guidelines, and NIRA, if applicable.
- The assistant volleyball coach is expected to assist in providing academic advice to student-athletes in a degree plan that fits the preparation and career path of each individual. This plan is directed to the ultimate goal of each student-athlete graduating from New Mexico Junior College with an AA, AS degree or certificate.
- The assistant volleyball coach will be expected to assist in the organization and maintain an operating budget that is provided to the program per the direction of the NMJC Board of Regents. Spending within these budget parameters is the expected protocol. Following all of the purchasing procedures and protocols established within the NMJC Employee Handbook will be expected.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least one year of collegiate coaching experience is required.
- Previous experience in managing an athletic program is preferred.
- The successful candidate must have good public relations skills, excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-task situations and ability to work in a fast-paced operation on a daily basis.
