The intercollegiate athletics program is an integral part of the university striving to achieve the same standards of excellence in athletics that exist within academic programs. The program is concerned with the physical and mental welfare of the student and strives to ensure that every athlete has the opportunity to succeed academically and obtain a degree.
Job Duties:
- Assist in developing, directing, and advancing a successful Division I women’s basketball program.
Assist in the planning and conducting of practice and training sessions (pre-season, traditional and non-traditional training segments, off-season and summer).
Assist in the development and implementation of competitive strategies, including scouting
Assist in development of student-athletes
Lead and motivate student-athletes to maximize their potential. - Recruit quality student-athletes.
- Assist in the facilitation of the academic success of student-athletes which includes retention and culminates with graduation. Recognize students who achieve academic excellence.
- Assist with administrative duties, which may include but is not limited to ordering/selection of equipment and supplies, arranging practice and competitive facilities, scheduling, and budget management and adherence.
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, adherence, and commitment to all NCAA, Conference, State, and Institutional rules and regulations
- Assist with the cultivation of a team culture that ensures appropriate and acceptable student behavior.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five years collegiate coaching or equivalent experience required. Knowledge of NCAA rules required.
- CPR/First Aid, NCAA Rules and regulations certification.
- Computer skills.
- Knowledge and adherence to NCAA, Conference, State, Institutional, and Department rules and regulations.
Motivation skills. - Commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and have an awareness of issues affecting women and minorities.
