Description
The assistant coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in all team matters. The assistant coach must actively promote the college and its programs, assist in developing fundraising activities, and recruit students for the college and the intercollegiate athletic program.
Duties:
- Assisting in the organization and administration of the team.
- Enforcing the rules of the game for the particular sport.
- Assisting in planning and conducting all practice sessions.
- Being the Assistant coach at all home and away games.
- Driving student athletes in rental vans to and from competitions.
- Understanding, promoting, and applying the philosophy of the intercollegiate athletic program at Montgomery County Community College.
- Always setting a good example for the students to follow, and promoting the highest level of good sportsmanship.
- Counseling and possibly reprimanding students who display unsportsmanlike or unacceptable behavior, such as using drugs and alcohol on campus prior to, during, and following practice sessions and games.
- Actively recruiting high school students in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED in conjunction with previous coaching experience required; associate's degree preferred.
- Knowledge of NCAA and NJCAA rules and compliance.
- Must possess and maintain valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification are required; if certifications are not current at time of hire, continued employment is contingent upon obtaining these certifications within 2 weeks of hire.
