Description
Reporting to the head coach of Women’s Hockey, the assistant Women’s Hockey coach will have primary duties in planning for training sessions and competition, providing input on player evaluation and recruiting as well as other decisions concerning team operations. This includes the vision to develop and implement a strategic plan for long-term growth and improvement of the Women’s Hockey program at Wesleyan University.
Coaching Responsibilities:
- Assist with instruction, planning, organizing and execution of practices and competition.
- Provide video analysis for competition and practice sessions.
- Evaluate athlete performance and progress to ensure peak performance during the season.
- Oversee the mental and physical preparation of athletes for competition.
- Assist in the development of conditioning programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of coaching experience and/or experience in a graduate assistant program or an equivalent combination of experience, education, training, and/or distinguished collegiate athletic career experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the daily operations of an intercollegiate Women’s Hockey program.
- Proven ability to effectively coach high level athletes.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership to student-athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
- Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact collegially with individuals of different backgrounds.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in MS Word and excel.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships and work effectively with internal and external constitutes.
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, including nights and weekends.
