Description
The position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the Softball program at the assigned school. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student-athletes in-game strategies and techniques.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with all aspects of program operation and development, recruiting prospective student-athletes, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, organization and execution of practices and competitions for both the traditional (spring).
- Responsible for equipment distribution and inventory, scouting, strength and conditioning, off-season program workout programs, and other duties assigned by the Head Baseball Coach by applicable rules and obligations of the Athletic Department, the University, AMC, and NAIA
- Demonstrates effective organizational, supervisory, promotional, budget management, and computer skills.
- Attends monthly staff meetings.
- Models and teaches NAIA Live 5; integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
- Ability to monitor the academic performance of student-athletes.
- Promote the philosophy of the athletic department and HSSU University.
Education and Experience:
- The position requires a diploma, a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Candidate must have at least 3 years as a collegiate softball coach and softball player.
- Must possess extensive recruiting, coaching techniques and skills, camp coordination and facilitation, community service, team building, and fundraising experience.
- Field maintenance, NAIA eligibility, and compliance experience are preferred.
