Description
The coach should understand his/her sport and be familiar with all rules, courtesies, and procedures of the activity. The coach should know his/her students and be an effective leader. He/she should be concerned with winning gracefully and, when losing, accept the loss with poise and a realization that an educational experience probably has been achieved.
Specific Duties:
- Teach the physical skills needed to play specific sport.
- Provide fair and equal opportunities for all candidate.
- Plan and supervise practice sessions in keeping with the age and maturity of the play.
- Meet with athletic director to prepare a tentative schedule of game.
- Establish rules for the proper use and care of athletic equipment.
- Check and monitor team members' academic progress.
- Perform other duties relative to coaching as assigned by the head coach and the athletic director.
Requirements:
- Leadership skills must encourage academic excellence, development of positive community relationships, and communication with a diverse population of students, staff, school and community.
- Must possess or can obtain a North Carolina Teaching Licensing through North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
- Must possess or can obtain a North Carolina CDL license, CPR & AED certifications and complete the NFHS Required Course work within 30 days of hire.
