Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of 60 or more college credit hours prior to coaching.
- Teaching certificate or NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Class prior to 2nd year of coaching.
- Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance.
- First Aid & CPR certified.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate.
PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Helps coach the varsity squad and junior varsity program.
- Gives guidance to the high school junior varsity program.
- Implements district athletic department policies.
- Works with the Athletic Director and Building Administrator:
- Communicating of high school wrestling schedule.
- Arrangement and communication of travel for out of town trips.
- Verification of student physical examination requirements of the high school.
- Preparation of athletic permission slips and eligibility lists.
- Works with Athletic Director to develop the practice schedules of varsity and junior varsity squads.
- Supervises practice gyms and playing gyms during and following periods of team participation.
- Remains with students and supervises them while traveling to away competitions.
- Cares for athletes and injured athletes.
- Cares for, maintains and oversees the storage of all equipment and uniforms.
- Prepares award lists and season records.
- Works closely with newspapers, radio and television personnel to encourage favorable public interest in the program.
- Attends all meetings regarding participation of sports with the Gasconade County R-II School District.
- Attends all state meetings where the program is involved and operates within the policies of the Gasconade County R-II School District.
