Description
Under general supervision, assists the Youth Coach with the planning, organization, and supervision of the Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA) track and field, cross-country, tennis, or swim team programs for participants 5-18 years of age.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with designing and implementing practices, workouts and training.
- Assists with setting up and taking down equipment.
- Assists with instructing tennis skills to participants of various levels.
- Ensures all possible safety measures are observed.
- Identifies and reports any hazards.
- Provides excellent customer service, including interacting with participants and/or parents to answer questions and resolve problems.
- Responds to emergency situations as required; maintains and forwards accurate accident and incident reports to supervisor.
- Reports any issues and concerns to supervisor.
- Attends trainings and meetings as required.
- Complies with city and departmental rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of the city of Thornton and the department.
- Knowledge of the sport of tennis.
- Knowledge of coaching tennis to participants of all abilities.
- Skill in performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid activities.
- Skill in instructing and demonstrating tennis skills to participants of all abilities.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply operating policies and procedures.
- Ability to react quickly and accurately in emergency situations.
- Ability to listen well and communicate effectively with the public.
