Description
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Director of Athletic Training, lead the daily operation of the athletic training facilities including the management of athletic training staff and coordination of medical services.
- Sit on the leadership team and contribute to high-level discussions, offering informed insights and strategic viewpoints on the program's direction and goals.
- Participate in the hiring, training, and development of athletic training staff, including Advanced Post-Graduate Athletic Trainers, and graduate and undergraduate student interns. Identify and implement opportunities for further professional development and education.
- Provide management in administrative areas, as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training.
- Assist in planning and organization of staff development opportunities, including in-services and continuing education with colleagues and other relevant personnel.
- Provide effective written and oral communication between student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and team physicians regarding the status and progress of injured student-athletes.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships by collaborating frequently with fellow athletic trainers, sports medicine physicians and clinic staff, sports nutritionists, physical therapists, sports psychologists, and sports performance coaches.
- As appropriate, make timely referrals to team physicians, and physical therapists for further assessment, testing, and evaluation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of electronic medical record keeping.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
- Strong clinical skill development
- Working knowledge of emerging evidence-based practices.
- Ability to work long hours with irregular schedules and frequent travel.
- Ability to engage in physically demanding, manual tasks.
