Description
The Associate Director for Sports Medicine reports to the Director of Athletics and serves as a member of the department’s management team. This position supervises and coordinates the University’s athletic training services for a 16-sport Division 1 athletics program competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. This individual will also design and maintain the training room operation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develops all healthcare, S-A welfare, emergency action and SOP procedures and policies as well as training room regulations.
- Develops the administrative policy for the sports medicine department in cooperation with the Director of Athletics.
- Serves as a member of the department’s leadership team.
- Supervises all operations of the training room.
- Implements the systems of evaluation, injury prevention, management, rehabilitation, and tracking.
- In conjunction with the head team physician and/or Chief Medical Officer, oversees and manages contracts with health care providers.
- Provides leadership and manages the assignments of the athletic training staff; ensuring appropriate athletic training coverage at home and away athletic events in and out of season.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree required, Masters preferred.
- Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
- Must possess an Athletic Training License as issued by the State of New Jersey.
