Description
The Associate Director assists with the planning, organizing and directing of the Sports Programs (Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs) and supervision of respective professional and student staff. The position focuses on student development, strategic planning, and creating new engagement opportunities for student success.
Essential Duties:
- Oversees all elements of the ASU Intramural Sports and Sport Club programs that serve students across all four campus locations, including delivery of education from campus partners, team management, safety protocols, recruitment, and oversight of the staff.
- Provides administrative, supervisory, and management support for three direct full time staff members at Tempe and provides strategic guidance to one full time staff at each of the other three campuses.
- Plan, administer, and manage the functional operating budgets. Oversees budgetary responsibilities for current and future planning for Intramural Sports Programming and Sport Club management and provides recommendations regarding existing financial expenditures and future budgeting projections.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Tempe summer Kids Camp program.
- Conduct research on emerging trends, analyze and interpret demographics and assessments, compile comprehensive reports, and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
- Cultivate an inclusive and diverse environment for student participants and staff.
Qualifications:
- Evidence of a Master’s Degree preferred in Recreation, Physical Education or related field.
- Experience in programming/coordinating intramural sports activities and/or the management of sport clubs. (1 year)
- Experience working in summer kids camps or working with youth programs.
- Experience working in a college or university recreation environment.
- Experience managing and developing professional and student employees.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving and sound decision-making abilities.
- Evidence of organizational skills and proficiency in project management.
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
