Description
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Assistant Coach – Softball for Rutgers Athletics. Under the direct supervision of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach assists in the coordination of an intercollegiate athletic program, and must have an understanding of technical knowledge of the sport of Softball with the ability to help develop the student-athletes to their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Recruits high level academically and athletically skilled students to attend Rutgers and participate on the Women’s Softball Team.
- Assists in developing, teaching and instructing the student-athletes in the proper rules of play, conditioning, skills and techniques on the softball field, in life-skills and leadership qualities off the field.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining a nationally competitive intercollegiate women’s softball team in the Big Ten and the NCAA.
- Acts as point person in organizing and communicating practice times and locations to all involved. Additionally, responsible for coordinating all involved with practices. Working with operations, trainers, coaching staff to organize practice times and locations both at home and on the road.
- Completes and maintains certain compliance logs including the CARA logs and various year end logs.
- Acts as point person to work with the head coach and director of operations, on all travel involved with the program.
Qualifications:
- 4 years of collegiate softball coaching and playing experience preferred in areas involving hitting, pitching and outfield defense.
- Ability to throw batting practice.
- Knowledge of Big Ten Conference and NCAA regulations.
