Description
The Athletic Director shall be responsible for the administration and supervision of the boys and girls athletic and activities programs, grades 7-12, and to provide leadership in establishing, implementing, and maintaining an educationally sound philosophy for the program.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Organizes and administers the overall program of extracurricular athletics for the district.
- Provides leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletics for the district.
- Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
- Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all athletic events.
- Provide direction to the Athletic Booster Organizations, with assistance of the lead coach.
- Interpret all local Board of Education policies (Athletic related).
- Work with coaches and administration in recommending athletic policies.
- Maintain current Athletic Handbook, listing detailed information regarding policy, procedures and practices to be followed in the athletic program, grades 7-12.
- Assist with screening and recommending the employment of coaches. Recommend assignment of coaches in the athletic program.
- Participate in appropriate state and district meetings concerning athletics. Prepare a list of athletes from each sport for eligibility purposes, as required by NMAA.
- Make necessary reports in a timely manner to the NM Activities Association.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid New Mexico Administrative License, or must be able to obtain one by July 1, 2025
- Head Coach experience preferred.
- Have five years of experience in public school administration, supervision, athletics, and/or teaching.
