Athletic Director

Position Goal:

To provide each Berkeley Springs High School student the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of the sport, and the principles of fair play.

Qualifications:

• West Virginia Teacher Certification.
• Administrator Certification preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Background in athletics, including coaching experience and/or experience as an athlete or related experience.
• Knowledge of WVSSAC rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of West Virginia school law and standard operating procedures.
• Ability and skills to work cooperatively and positively with students, staff, parents, boosters, public, and the community.
• Knowledge, expertise and time to carry-out the responsibilities of the position.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Assist as directed by the principal with the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.
• Coordinate officials and security as needed for athletic events/assume responsibility for the proper supervision of home games.
• Arrange transportation for Berkeley Springs High School athletic teams.
• Through collaboration with the principal and coaches, develop and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletes and athletic events.
• Verify each athlete's eligibility in each sport pursuant to WVSSAC rules and regulations and any relevant school rules.
• Supervise ticket sales and fund raising events of the athletic program directed by the principal.
• Arrange all details of visiting team's needs, including lodging, meals, travel, gym services, and field assistance, as needed.
• Arrange field and gum practices schedules.
