Description
The Athletic Director is responsible for the coordination and management of athletic-related functions at the College, including strategic planning, departmental organization, budgets, athletic fundraising oversight, NJCAA, ACCC, and supervision of the coaching staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises assigned staff by setting schedules, assigning tasks, evaluating performance and making disciplinary decisions.
- Monitors and reviews projects to ensure that all deadlines are met and that the end product meets quality standards.
- Provides staff with regular feedback based on their ongoing job performance.
- Coaches and counsels’ employees appropriately to enhance development, productivity, and morale.
- Provides appropriate training and professional development opportunities for department staff.
- Establishes and implements long- and short-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; institutes changes needed for improvement.
- Develops, organizes, and administers athletic budget; ensures sports programs operate within budget and ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Approves all requisitions for purchase of athletic equipment and supplies, ensuring purchases and related processes are followed and in compliance.
- Obtains accidental/medical insurance for all athletes; arranges for physical examinations; ensures claims are filed properly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Three years coaching or athletic administration at the high school, collegiate, or professional level is required.
- Experience with budget oversight and planning is required.
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including frequent weekends and after-hours activities during the week is required.
- Ability to frequently travel, including overnight travel is required.
- Possess a current and valid driver's license with the ability frequently drive and to be insured through the College's insurance provider is required.
- Possess Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or have ability to possess CDL within two (2) year of employment is required.
