Description
Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Student Services, this position is responsible for the development, organization, administration, coordination, compliance, and supervision of the College Athletics Program. The director must be a dynamic leader with exceptional administrative, delegation, and organizational skills. The director must work with campus and community constituents to develop innovative and forward-thinking offerings to students of Centralia College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain close liaison with the sports community within the service district and college staff members including but not limited to the Director of Financial Aid and the Director of Student Involvement.
- Monitor the preparation of the Athletic Program budgets and present the budget requests to the Associated Students of Centralia College (ASCC) Student Budget Committee. Responsible for the fiscal control and accurate accountability of all funds. Present the budget to the Board of Trustees on an annual basis.
- Coordinate with the Director of Financial Aid and recommend athletes for financial aid programs and scholarships.
- Provide leadership and planning to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local laws and college policies.
- Ensure that all athletes who sign letters of intent are awarded jobs and/or financial aid that is promised by the letters of intent.
- Supervise field/gymnasium operations, security and student employees.
- Screen and interview all coaches and assistant coaches and recommend contracts.
- Administer policies regarding athletes and maintain an effective recruiting system for all sports.
- Monitor fund raising projects for each sport, including, but not limited to, acting as chairman on raising projects which all sports participated in.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Higher Education; athletic/sports administration, physical education, recreation, or related field.
- At least five years of experience working in athletic administration at the High School or College level.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management, employee supervision, and fundraising.
- Knowledge of and experience managing Title IX compliance and promoting equitable access to athletic programs.
- Demonstrated success collaboratively developing and implementing departmental vision and unity among team members.
