A school where the academics, arts and athletics are each considered essential elements of our students’ learning, Fort Worth Country Day seeks an energetic, experienced and confident athletic department leader with a passion for working with students, faculty, staff and parents. A member of the School’s senior leadership team, the FWCD Athletic Director is responsible for the direction and management of all athletic programs at the School. This person must have both a passion for the student athletic experience, and a facility soliciting input, creating consensus and making decisions. The Athletic Director sets the tone for exemplary sportsmanship, good health and the spirit of teamwork. While the Athletic Director works in conjunction with the three division heads, the Director ultimately reports to the Head of School.
The next Athletic Director for Fort Worth Country Day will:
Be a gifted and tireless hirer, leader and “furtherer” of coaches,
Be devoted to maximizing the student experience in athletics at FWCD.
Be experienced and adept at building and sustaining the school-parent partnership.
Have a fundamental appreciation of the JK-12 physical education and athletics environment.
Represent the athletic department while working towards the overall best interests of FWCD as a member of the school’s senior leadership team.
Have a deep and thorough knowledge of best practices and pedagogies of K-12 physical education and athletic development.
Demonstrate a passion for excellence and a commitment to good sportsmanship and highest character in coaches and students alike.
Be collaborative and a consensus builder while fully embracing the decision-making responsibility of the Athletic Director.
Lead approximately 110 team coaches (12 full-time and 50 part-time coaches/educators with multiple team commitments) who run the school’s 24 programs.
Be innovative in problem solving and in program development.
Have comfort seeking input and applying constructive criticism.
Have a sense of humor.
Have a keen understanding of issues of inclusivity and diversity, and be prepared to further the school’s progress accomplishing the goals of its Inclusivity Statement.
