Description
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher with course work in athletic management and/or educational administration/leadership.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate and/or administrator certificate issued by the Michigan Department of Education preferred.
- Three (3) years of successful head coaching
- Evidence of active participation and leadership in professional and athletic organizations
- Demonstrated success in the improvement of the athletic programs, and working harmoniously with students, parents, teachers, and the school community.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent (or designee) may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Administer the athletic program and coordinate all athletic functions for South Lake Schools.
- Work with representatives of the school and community to develop an athletic program suitable to the needs of South Lake Schools.
- Schedule all interscholastic contests involving students in grades 6-12 with the approval of the respective principals.
- Counsel and guide students in all phases of their educational and athletic development
- Administer student discipline as assigned.
- Compile and maintain accurate records and reports on student schedules, membership, attendance, transfers, and athletics.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and the evaluation of athletic staff.
- Encourage and help establish a climate of improvement and enrichment.
- Counsel and advise the principal and the building staff in planning athletic functions and activities.
- Assist in the preparation of all athletic records and reports required by local, state, and national departments and other agencies.
