Description
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Maintain responsibility for organizing, administering, and supervising the operation of the school athletic program.
- Work with the county-wide coordinator of athletics in providing a quality athletic program.
- Initiate, organize, maintain, develop, and evaluate extra-curricular athletic activities.
- Attend all meetings involving areas of responsibility.
- Supervise the inspection of athletic facilities and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate school administrator.
- Initiate procedures for care and use of the locker rooms and for security.
- Prepare and submit the athletic budget to the principal and maintain financial records.
- Work with the principal to secure needed coaches with special emphasis on the selection of volunteer coaches, and personnel not otherwise employed by Baltimore County Public Schools.
- Plan, prepare, and/or supervise for each athletic team: seasonal schedules, practice areas, policy governing the receiving of visiting teams, bus transportation, officials’ assignments, and facilities maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of three years of successful teaching.
- Leadership experience in interscholastic athletics.
- Evidence of professional development in athletic administration.
- 2 years of coaching experience preferred.
