Description
The Athletic Director is responsible for overseeing all athletic programs at PRMHS. This includes interviewing, hiring, mentoring, and supervising coaching staff; making determinations about eligibility criteria; monitoring academic eligibility of student athletes; and working in collaboration with the PRSD School Committee, Cape Ann League, Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree preferred in education, physical education, sports and recreation, kinesiology, sports management or a related field.
- At least five years of public school coaching experience, or an administrative equivalency is preferred.
- Administrative licensure.
- In-depth working knowledge of all sports, including soccer, track and field, lacrosse, football, field hockey, ice hockey, cheerleading, basketball, wrestling, golf, swimming, etc.
- Passion for sports and education.
- Keen understanding of how young athletes should be developed.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the athletic department, including team schedules, facilities, and equipment.
- Work with School Committee’s Policy Subcommittee to update athletic policies and any other athletics related policies as needed.
- Provides guidance and consistency in policy and procedure decisions within the Athletics Department.
- Develop and manage the athletic department budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation.
- Buy athletic equipment and ensure its maintenance.
- Plan/approve fundraising events, including those associated with the Pentucket Athletic
- Association, and manage the athletics department's budget.
- Maintain open lines of communication and strong working relationship with the Business and Facilities Departments to ensure budgetary and athletic facility needs are met.
