Description
The athletic director is responsible for providing direction of the athletic department and coordination of all athletic activities (Inter-scholastic and intra-scholastic) for grades 9-12 at West Catholic High School. The position will advance the mission of the school (to form disciples of Christ through a dynamic, excellence-driven Catholic education) by engaging with students and staff directly and supporting the efforts of the Administration by fostering teams, coaches and game expectations in competition that are reflective of our Catholic identity and values.
Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all athletic programs/activities reflect the Catholic mission of the school.
- Implement game scheduling, coordination, management and oversight of all varsity sports, including sub-varsity levels, and intramural sports.
- Collaborate with the Principal in the hiring, training, and separation of all coaches at West Catholic.
- Possess a thorough understanding of Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) procedures and regulations; ensure that West Catholic is fully compliant.
- Collaborate with GRACEAC sports programs.
- Facilitate meetings between coaches and athletic department staff.
- Oversee communications regarding sports teams and athletes.
- Interact in a positive and professional manner daily with students, parents, faculty and support staff at West Catholic.
- Maintain up-to-date records of injuries and provide analysis of information to the Principal as needed.
- Work with athletic trainer to ensure proper treatment of athlete is being adhered to.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution in education or business administration is required. Master’s degree in athletic administration or equivalent preferred
- Prior successful work in athletic administration preferred
- The individual must be a self-starter/self-motivated, well organized, and detail oriented.
Ability to work independently, and with minimal supervision, consistently meeting goals and deadlines. - Effective interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Must be flexible in working hours to accommodate evening, weekend, and overnight activities as needed.
