Description
The athletic director oversees all aspects of the athletic program, including hiring coaches, scheduling, budget preparation, promotion, compliance, and facility management. This role is designed for an organized person who thrives in leadership and enjoys working with coaches and athletes to help teams reach their potential. Whereas coaches carry out a team's day-to-day preparation, athletic directors take pride in the behind-the-scenes work, which puts teams in a position to succeed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university;
- One to two years of head or assistant football coach experience at the high school level or higher Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To initiate, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the Mid-Del School District and OSSAA.
- To assist as a liaison for the District Director of Athletics between the students, faculty, coaches, sponsors, administrators of the building, and community agencies such as booster clubs, youth organizations, etc.
- To assume responsibilities for establishing and coordinating all athletic events in cooperation with the District Director of Athletics and the principals of high schools and middle schools.
- To improve the competitiveness and winning ways that serve as life lessons for all individuals and teams involved in athletics and other extracurricular activities.
- Assist the District Director of Athletics in the administration of the athletic programs by coordinating the high schools’ and middle schools’ programs.
- Accounting: Ensure starting cash is available at the start of each home event. Provide tickets for the selling gates with a form indicating the starting ticket to be sold. Make night deposits of all gate receipts from the home events. See that the money and torn tickets from the previous night are reconciled. See that the money is deposited in the proper account and posted to the individual sport.
- Athletic Handbook: Develop and keep an updated handbook explaining the policies of the Mid-Del School District.
